What is
Skype?
Skype is a little piece of software that lets you make free,
high quality phone calls to anyone else on Skype, anywhere in
the world. You can even call landlines and mobile phones at
really cheap per minute rates (and there's no setup or
subscription fee). And with optional SkypeOut service you can
make low cost calls to traditional landline or mobile phones at
local rates.
What is
Yahoo! Messenger with Voice?
Yahoo! Messenger with Voice is free software that lets you
communicate in real-time with friends and family who also have
Messenger. Make free PC-to-PC calls to other friends or use the
Phone Out service to call friends on their regular or mobile
phones worldwide at low rates.

Linksys Dual-Mode Cordless Phones give you the freedom to
choose. Make free calls from your PC to friends, family and
business associates who have the same software as you. Or route

What is
VoIP?
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), also called IP Telephony,
Internet telephony, Broadband telephony, Broadband Phone and
Voice over Broadband, is the routing of voice conversations over
the Internet or through any other IP-based network. Because the
system uses local Internet connections VoIP to VoIP phone calls
are typically free. Finally, talk IS cheap!
Can I
Call Standard Telephones or Mobile Phones?
Yes! iPhone lets you make free VoIP phone calls through your
computer. But iPhone also lets you make calls through a standard
telephone line connected to your computer. Of course, you will
need to have a subscription to SkypeOut, Yahoo! Phone Out or a
traditional service provider to do that.
Can I
access any wireless network?
The Linksys WIP product line allows you to connect to accessible
802.11b/g access points. This includes access points secured
with WEP or WPA. In addition, the WIP330 has an embedded web
browser that will allow you to authenticate to hotspots.
Can I
Make 911 Calls?
The Internet was not designed with emergency communications in
mind. Until recently VOIP service providers were not required by
law to provide 911 services. You may need to sign up for
emergency service with a traditional telephone carrier. Unless
E911 service is in place emergency calls should be made through
a service provider.
